Jones Broach was born in King & Queen County, Virginia about 1748.

Early in his life, Jones migrated as a single man to Caswell County, North Carolina where he married Elizabeth Haynie about 1777. Elizabeth was also born in Virginia, about 1753.

Jones and Elizabeth had seven children who are listed in the Descendants of Jones Broach

After the Revolutionary War, Jones Broach first settled in Wilkes County, Georgia then in Greene County, Georgia where he lived in 1805 during the Georgia Land Lottery.

Prior to this he had migrated through South Carolina from his starting point in Caswell County, North Carolina.

Jones died in Clarke County, Georgia on January 5, 1809, leaving a will and in the will all children are mentioned.

Jones Broach was a Patriot who served honorably in the Revolutionary War. Many of his female descendants are members of the DAR (Daughters of the American Revolution) and his male descendants qualify for membership in several similiar patriot societies.

Following are the war records of Jones Broach from the Military Service Records, National Archives, Washington, DC.

Jones Broach, Revolutionalry War, Pvt Caswell County, North Carolina served in Capt Robert Moores Company in Lt Col Lytle's Command.
Commencement of time served 26 May 1778.
Time Paid: 6 months, 5 days Paid: 1 Dec 1778 Rate of Pay Per Month In Dollars 6 2/3 Total Amount in Dollars, 41 1/4 Amount L16, S10 (note L & S indicate English monetary units.)

The same Jones Broach is also listed in the Washington Memorial Library in Macon, Georgia in the same command with an entry not dated stating Pay Roll L 28, S 6 d 4 with no date given. Also State Records of North Carolina by Clark, Vol XVll.

Some of the earliest and most extensive research on the descendants of Jones Broach was done in the 1960s by his great-great-grandson, Raymond Charles Broach. All Broaches in this line will be forever indebted to Raymond Charles for these well documented facts.
